Well that depends on the region. I only know the Karnival in Cologne wich is very famous. The Karnival-Season always begins on 11.11. at 11:11am each year and ends with the street-Karnival in February. It starts with "Weiberfastnacht" (Womens Carnival Day - sound stupid but is great!) on February 15th, 2007. And Ends with the "Rosenmontagszug" (Rose Monday) on Feb. 19th, 2007.
