I don't see why you're so alarmed that an eight year old is afraid of death. That sounds normal. Calm down. I've seen lots of people ask serious questions about trying to lose weight and personal relationships and things and they get lots of really good answers. Lots of stupid people who want to be jerks are here, but lots of nice people who want to help out are also here. It's just like any place in the real world.

It is a sounding board for inspiration. Maybe they were asking that in hopes someone would give them a piece of wisdom to pass on to the tyke, like "Yes its normal for all children to be afraid or intimidated by things they don't know, even death." And if you have ever been really sick, and medicine isn't working, it is very nice when people share home remedies for relief. What if you didn't know honey cured a sore throat, and someone told you, and it made you feel 99% better for next to free? That's why, sweetheart. Have a better day.

I pity your child, if you think because this person is concerned about his child being afraid of death he should run to a shrink. One of the biggest fears in life is fear of death. He was probably only asking if anyone else has had this problem, and just asking for there advise. I am more concerned with your well being. Being upset with what everyone else is doing.

A lot of people think this forum is actually a "good" place to get unbiased advice. What they don't account for is people like me that are here to tell them how ****** in the head they are and how vulnerable their kids are to rapists.

Gotta deal with all types, folks. Eat me.

This Y!A is more, in my opinion, for entertainment. Some are entertained by intellectualism, others by absurdity. However, seeking serious advice...this would not be my preferred forum, although I have seen some good advice rendered here. How do you determine quality of it? :)

I know, you'd think people would think this is askashrink.com or something. Come on, people, were just gonna give a goofy answer! Go to a doctor for this kind of stuff

I find Y!Answers a good place to start research. I wouldn't make this my last stop on the information train, but its a good stop.
