When I downloaded i've got the picture on my desktop but when I go into control panel and scroll down in the destop settings menu my new picture is not listed does this mean I'll lose it next time I run anti spy etc cos it happened once before. I downloaded from popular screensavers if that helps.

Try this! First, save the desktop wallpaper on your DESKTOP. Please make sure you name the desktop wp that you have saved on DESKTOP. This will help you to verify your wp easily.
1>Now, RIGHT-CLICK on DESKTOP for windows pop-up menu.
2>Click on PROPERTIES. The "display properties" dialog box appears
3>Click on DESKTOP tab.
4>Click on BROWSE button.
5>Now find your desktop wp on DESKTOP and click OPEN.
6>Click APPLY/OK button.
Well, once you have done this - your desktop wp is saved on DESKTOP. But don't delete it after you have wallpapered it in your desktop because it is the source file.
And don't worry if you cannot see your "desktop wp" name in the display list under WINDOWS PROPERTIES if you have saved the file. Besides, it won't vanish when you run "ANTI-SPY/ANTI-VIRUS" once you have saved the file(desktop wp).

When we whenever download a desktop wallpaper it already got saved in the properties of wallpaper.

Make your own wallpaper. Take a favourite family picture and save it as .bmp and then you can find it in your desktop settings, and apply it to your desktop.

if "popular screensavers" is a program that INSTALLED and your spyware scanner recognizis it as spyware, then yes, your spyware scanner might do its job and delete it. but if you have access to the picture on that web site without installing the program, just open up the picture from the web site, right click it, and chosse 'set as wallpaper'.

if you want to keep that wallpapers forever then save it to computer memory,if you will save it then if you choose another wallpaper then that wallpaper will vanish from the wallpaper list
