For those of us who do have vision, we see total blackness when we close our eyes. Is that what a blind person will "see"? I've always wondered that. For someone who was born blind, they wouldn't even know what the color black is, right? How are they even supposed to describe what it's like to be blind. On the other hand, for someone who has lost their vision, ie. due to an accident, can they better describe what it is that they are actually seeing, or not see? Is it just complete blackness? Do different blind people "see" different things?

One of my teachers lost her vision, and she says that on good days, she can make out shadows and stuff, but on bad days, everything is just "lost in a sea of white." She never really said anything about it being dark all the time.

My mum's friend would see grey fuzzy shapes, like she knew someone was standing in front of her, but they had no form, or she would see light and dark, but nothing clear.

THEY DON'T HAVE A CONCEPT OF 'BLACKNESS'. They connect colors to what they feel and taught. Example they would understand the color of green when they connect it with grass, etc.
