Do we really care?
The 2008 European qualifying stage include 12 games for Italy (Group B) and the first two of the seven Teams in the Group will advance to the Championship tournment in Austria/Switzerland... a single game means nothing!
Actually, the game means nothing to Italians... probably it means a lot to the LOSERS of the 2006 World Cup.
No matter what the result will be on Sept. 6th, ITALY will still be the WORLD CHAMPION and that will remain for the next 4 years!!!

I would say "congratulations, now stop the whining and all the silly posts". Even though winning a qualifier can't be compared to winning the World Cup, I hope that it will at least boost their egos and give them the feeling that "finally justice was done and the world could see who the right team was". If a French victory on Sept 6th will put an end to some silly posts on this forum, may France win. I have a feeling, however, that some people would take it as a pretext to prove that they were right and bash Italy even more. Geez, this is like the neverending story... I keep coming back because I love football, but one day I'll probably really get fed up with this forum. In two months, nothing has changed. It's the same old questions about Zidane and Materazzi, France and Italy, who deserved to win the World Cup, etc, all over again.

Obviously the match would stand out for a qualifier, but to me, whether or not the French really do win, the Italians can still be proud of their victory in this year's World Cup tournament. I would congratulate them, since there's always a reason for a team to win a match, unless they really didn't deserve to win; say, Malouda dove again. But otherwise, there would always be more opportunities for the Italians to qualify for the Euro 2008 anyway.

I'd like to think that I can be civil, fair and objective... I'm not a fan of French Whine!!! Whoever wins was the right team in the end, but its only a qualifier so I'm not really fussed!!!

I'd surely congratulate with them ; you won't see me complaining for a football defeat.
The only thing I would add if france wins is.....
