First, if you haven't taken the time to really think about it, I would do that! Parenting is hard, especially when you take on the task alone. Do you have any nieces or newphews? If so, maybe you could ask to have them spend the weekend with you. That way, you can get a feel of what life would be like... every day! If you love it, try reaching the adoption agencies. There is a program for people to adopt children, free. Usually the kids come from disfunctional homes and were taken away from their parents. But hey, what a great oppertunity to have a child to love, while also giving them a better life:) I hope everything works out for you!

I think it's a bad idea to deliberately deny a child a two-parent family. Why don't you start by donating your time to Big Brothers and see if you enjoy that and can handle the responsibilities. Or you might look into becoming a foster parent for an older child -- there are plenty of kids out there in need of help, who often are forgotten about because everyone wants to adopt a newborn that doesn't have the accompanying baggage.

Having a kid=being tied down, far more than marriage. I'd really rethink this.

Besides, I would never advise *anyone* to try parenting without at least one reliable co-parent. :) I know many do it as single parents (and I'm in awe of them) but I can't imagine how I'd cope.

As to how a single male gets kids... without a fair amount of money (overseas adoption?) or a woman willing to have your baby and then hand it over, you're basically SOL.

If you don't want the "problems that come with marriage or relationships," then you DEFINITELY don't want the problems that come with raising children. That responsibility is MUCH greater... and much more difficult.
I'd suggest a fish. Or a plant. Or maybe just babysit your friend's kids every once in a while.

If you think being married equals being tied down, then you probably wouldn't enjoy being a parent either. Both are lifetime commitments that come with their share of personality clashes and problems.

From your question, you don't seem ready to be a father. Unless you're willing to put 100% into your children, you should not become a father. And IMO it is important for the dad to be there day in and day out and in a loving relationship with the mother. Until you're willing to do this, please don't have children.

Why not because you'll be tied down with a baby the baby is going to need all your time.

You can spare your potential children the horrible life of growing up with parents that don't love one another enought to commit to one another. It doesn't teach them to value love or themselves. Ask any kid from a divorced home if they'd rather have their parents together or apart. Think about them more than yourself.

You can adopt. You don't have to worry about any relationships and you can make help a kid get a better life.
