My son has just turned seven months old and he weighs 24 pounds and I still use his swing with him it gives him something different to do and it calms and relaxes him. I also use a walker/activity center or the Johnny Jump-up he loves it all. Babies are very easily bored they need lots of different things to do but the swing, walker, and jump up are not replacements for parental interaction

Our daughter is 6 months old. She doesn't have much interest in her bouncy seat any more even though it was a fool-proof way to soothe her and keep her occupied early on. We bought a swing but have gotten very little use out of it. She just wasn't very impressed with it. We are still getting mileage out of the floormat/play gym and she loves the exersaucer at daycare--while it's not teaching her to walk, it is strengthening her leg muscles and provides her an upright view of things. We're just biding time until she figures out the crawling thing. She's sitting fairly well now so mostly we prop her in a sitting position in her boppy-pillow and give her an assortment of toys. She'll stay busy for an hour easy!

He will grow out of a swing really fast. Don't waste your money. A walker is a great option. It will help strengthen his legs and progress towards walking. Another option is a Boppy pillow that you can use to prop him up (Wal-Mart does have a cheap version).

I think a jolly jumper that you hang from the door frame is still an enormous source of fun for them at that age.

A jumperoo holds up to 25lbs and you don't have to hang it from a doorway. A Johnny Jumper hangs from a doorway and holds up to 24 lbs. We don't have a place to hang one in my house.

a walker is your best option. my baby is 5 months old and she has been in a walker for about a month already. she loves it and she's already moving around in it! I would never look back!

Maybe a child-size keyboard? I think he may be too young for a swing. Wait until he able to at least keep himself upright.

truthfully walkers don't help children walk any sooner than if they didn't have one. a swing or boucny seat would be good.
