I have done both. If you are using the powder kind then as needed is easier. One of the formulas my son was one (he was one a total of 4 different kinds before they got it right) only cam in a concentrate, then I would make a can and fill the bottles for the day. It was just eiser then keeping the big container in the fridge. I think I got 6 4-6oz bottles to a can and it was eaiser to store the bottles then it was to jug I had to mix it in. so it really depends on what form you are using.

Making bottles ahead does save time. Just grab one out of the fridge and warm it up. That way, if your baby is hysterical you don't have to try to juggle the baby and prepare a bottle at the same time. Just be sure to use any premade formula within 24 hours. After that, you should toss it out.

I have 2 children and i made up 24hrs worth of bottles each morning made sure it was cool then kept it in the fridge cause then if you wanna go out then they are all ready you dont want to risk having to run out some where and not having any bottles made up, it never did my kids any harm and ill do exactly the same with the child we are ttc. But if it aint used that day just throw it away.

Thats dumb. The nutrients dont need time to activate, they are already in the formula. I would just make it as needed, you can make a few ahead of time for the sake of convenience. That would be the only reason to do that. Be careful with that though, you dont want to make too many and end up wasting it.

I make enough for 48 hours at a time, but it has nothing to do with nutrients. I have twins and its just easier for me to have it mixed already at feeding time.
ETA: Okay I've been thinking a bit about this and I've heard others mention that its best to make it up in advance so that the bubbles from mixing it have time to settle and it has less of a chance to give the baby gas. Maybe this is what your friend was thinking of...?

I usually just make one bottle at a time and make sure my baby eats it within a hour, if not i throw it away, because bacteria can grow on the milk within a hour. If i want to sometimes though i make some to last for about 48 hours and put them in the fridge, so the bacteria doesnt grow on them so fast(you have to use them before 48 hours though). When i take one out of the fridge i usually just warm it up and its ready to go.

If I have to use the liquid formula I make the whole can up into a pitcher and put it in the fridge and use it as I need it. I as least have it mixed up to make the bottle easier. I don't think that there is anything wrong with making it as needed.

Read the instuctions on the formula. Most formulas are only good in the open for an hour or two once made, longer in the fridge. I make as needed.

It's totally inaccurate. Always make formula only as needed. It spoils way too quickly to be used any other way. This goes not only for human formula, but any kind of powdered formula mix that there is, and even real human milk. Breast milk won't keep very long unless you freeze it, and maybe a little longer in the fridge. But with powdered mixes when you'll always have it handy and don't need to worry about whether or not someone else will be able to feed the child, there's just no reason to wait.
