Depends on the length of her menstrual cycle. If it is 28-32 days, she is NOT likely to get pregnant while on her period. She will likely ovulate somewhere between days 12 and 18. She needs to get Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler and a basal body temp thermometer. She can chart her cycle and see when she is fertile.
If her cycle is short, 21 days or less, which is very, very rare, she will ovulate around day 7 or so, which could end up in pregnancy during period.
One is NOT most fertile during their period. You cannot pass an egg while your uterine lining is being shed. One is NOT most fertile 3 days prior to period, because if THAT was the case, no baby would ever be convieved. It takes at least 8 days for a baby to implant.

no......Everyone's cycle is different. There is a myth that woman ovulate 14 days after their period begins...but that is only an AVERAGE and each month can be different. The other thing is that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days.... so if you are having a shortened cycle one month and you have sex right after your period and you ovulate earlier than day 14 than yes, there is a chance of getting pregnant. However, it will not be during your period. Many people think it’s possible because they do not completely understand how conception works. It might not happen right at the moment of intercourse since the sperm can live for days! If your cycle is short and you ovulate earlier than day 14 it can SEEM like conception takes place during your period...They only way to know is to know exactly when you ovulate. There are several ways to know and some are more effective than others. Some can only predict before ovulation happens and some can only predict that is has already happened. The absolute best info I can give you is to go read a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths

Yes it is possible for a female to get pregnant on her period. Most females ovulate about 14 days after the start of their period ( females with regular 28 day cycles) so that is the time you do not want to have unprotected sex however every females body is different. If her cycle is under or over 28 days then she can ovulate at various times. Either you could consult a doctor or buy an ovulation detector kit that will tell you when she is ovulating and you can avoid unprotected sex that day. It is said that when a woman is on her period she is fertile meaning able to get pregnant. Good luck.

Yes it is possible to get pregnant during your period. If you two are trying to avoid a pregnancy I wouldn't recommend unprotected sex at all. You may want look into the "Rhythm Method" as a form of birth control but its not the most reliable form of BC. As a matter of fact I've heard a joke about this method. What do you call people who use the rhythm method? PARENTS

It depends on her cycle. If you really want to have unprotected sex and not get pg that you should look into Natural family planning. You and your wife would need to learn her cycle to know when she is fertile. There are books out that can show you how to family plan.

why doesn't she go on birth control? that way you can have unprotected sex anytime you'd like. or using those thinner style condoms. i've heard of women getting pregnant around/on their period. so its not impossible...to be sure you might want to take caution and use protection of some kind.
