No I am not vain or selfcentered either. Being vain is when you are overly proud in yourself concerning appearance and fashion. You are narcissistic obsessed with the way you look, take a considerably amount of time dressing as your clothes have to match, you look in the mirror repeatedly trough the day and judge others superficially. Vain would be someone who has very little substance, a shallow person. Someone who the shell is more important than what resides skin deep. Selfcentered is concerning only about yourself but usually in a non fashion sense. Vanity often accompanies contriteness.

Are you more interested in your looks than your health?
Is your clothing dedicated to making you look your absolute best, irrespective of cost or comfort?
Do you have more than 2 large mirrors (bathroom(s) not included), or several small mirrors?
Is keeping clean more important that staying safe (or saving someone else)?
Do you not have a pet because you don't want its fur on your clothes?
Do you berate people (in your mind) for not being as attractive as you are?
If you are single, do you have more pictures of you around the house, as opposed to family or friends? If you have a family, and you put the pictures up, once again, are there more pictures of you than the kids or your wife?
Do you have anything that you've engraved with your name for some purpose other than theft prevention?
Are there any statue(ette)s or paintings of you?
If so... you might be vain.

I would define vanity as having a high opinion of oneself, especially regarding appearance. ie., self-conceit and a desire for admiration 24/7. I'm not vain, but my husband is and he admits to it. Do you think you fit this description?

Everyone is vain. Vanity is an element of social interaction - the only variable is its degree.

Vain means one is excessively proud of or concerned about one's own appearance, qualities, achievements, etc.; conceited: a vain dandy. Are you like this? :)

Vain? no. Confident? Yup.
Fully aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I love winning at things...but have serious admiration for those who beat me too....cause at least in the triathlons...I know it ain't easy! lol
