The thought patterns we are aware of are a small fraction of the bigger picture. Our mind does things that we are not consciously aware of sometimes despite our conscious wills. The human mind is never at rest, we are constantly computing everything around us, a few of us are more aware of our minds than others but as a generality we tend to act on the logic we are trained by, rather than our own independent mentality, so we remain in the dark about most of the things our minds contemplate and compute.

Absolutely not!!! I think that that's why some people are prone to longer lives than others, and some are prone to shorter lives than others because of their capacity to think. It's when people begin shutting themselves down - by not thinking, not learning, not forcing themselves to keep going, that the brain eventually stops. Unfortuneatley, the person also stops, too.

no, not even when we want it to. it is always trying to resolve issues, that we sometimes are not even aware of. the best thing to do is to recognize and aknowledge this phenomena, and let it do it's thing and try to get some sleep while it's doing it's thing.
