Judging from the number of points racked up by the level 7 people, it looks like for some that Yahoo Answers is the ONLY thing they do, all day, every day!

I do enjoy doing reference work, and I do get a sense of accomplishment when I get a Best Answer from someone who had a real need for information that was hard for them to get, and thanks me for meeting that need. Yahoo Answers has a lot of potential still unmet in that people can ask very practical questions and get practical advice, like how-to questions, or what to do about long haired cats whose fur gets matted, they can find information that is kind of obscure by someone who is good at reference work or has experience in that, and for trivia buffs. There is a big problem with the 'gaming' aspects of it, in that people will put all kinds of stupid stuff to get a couple of points, and that affects the integrity of the answers, and some people misuse it to be like chat, or classified ads.
YAnswers could be like a practical wikipedia, or it could be... a mess. We'll see how yahoo deals with that over the next few months - whether the gamers or researchers predominate.

I guess. It takes some of the stress of work away. Whenever I am feeling extremely overwhelmed at work I just get on Answers and I feel better instantly.
