Sounds like something is wrong with the transmission.

What about 4th & 5th Gear? Are they ok ??? The problem is internal to the transmission. It's unfortunate that you replaced the clutch components for this problem because the clutch has nothing to do with keeping it IN gear. The clutch can affect it going into gear (grinding) but not keeping it in gear.
Best thing is to take it to a transmission shop and let them fix it for you !!! Unfortunately, sometimes it ends up being cheaper to let a professional fix it that doing it yourself.

synchronizers are out of adjustment. this is a major job to fix. you will need to drop the tranny and break it down to replace or adjust. this happens when the main bearings in the tranny are replaced. it happen to me with my mazda B2000. ended up replacing transmission

Ha, you didn't replace the gear box. Dismantle it and check the cogs and syncromesh for wear.
Hope this solves the problem for you.
