it used to be very common back when the IUD 1st came out now its extremely rare! My clinic has never seen it happen and they are a public clinic. A previous poster said that it puts you at a higher chance of ectopic pregnancy however I have read that the reason is because it cant prevent ectopic pregnancies since those were never meant to be in-planted in the uterus so had you not been on the IUD y ou still might have had that ectopic pregnancy. Ive had mine for 3 years mys sister has had hers for 2 a close friend had had hers for 4 and a another friend has had hers for 6 (shes on the para guard)

If this is something you think may be true for you, you need to see a doctor right away and have the IUD removed if you ARE pregnant. I have never heard of this, but IUDs are not as common in the US as they used to be. If you are pregnant and an IUD is in, it needs to be removed ASAP.

I have a friend who is 35 years old, he is an IUD baby and is perfectly fine and normal. You do, however, need to get to the dr as soon as possible.

I know of a few women who got pregnant and have had healthy kids. I know of them through a parenting website, Minti. If you want to read their experiences, go here http://www.minti.com/parenting-advice/1062/birth-control-IUD/?highlight=iud Make sure you read the comments at the bottom too.

I have read about it but it is rare. It is usually the fault of an IUD that was not inserted properly by the doctor. Also, a woman is supposed to wait a certain period of time after it has been inserted to have sex.

Become pregnant with an IUD is quite possible, though not likely. It seems from what I read that it is important to have the device removed early to avoid the risks both to the mother and fetus.

i had one and didn't get pregnant until i had it removed, by then i was ready for another child. i will say this much, i worked in the ER and there was a girl that came in with an IUD that had penetrated her uterus so make sure your doctor knows what he's doing

I believe it is possible, but the IUD will severely harm the baby. Check webmd.

I seem to recall Roseanne Barr said she got pregnant while using the IUD; and that afterward, her kid could pick up HBO....

(this was back when she still did stand-up comedy...)

Yes it can happen, but be careful...they are known for causing ectopic pregnancies!
