blood donation is donating ur blood which can b used for a person in need who is most importantly of same blood group.
there are four main blood groups namely A,B,AB and O. in each one of these, there are two types, +ve and -ve(positive and negative)(eg A+,O-,AB+,B+ etc.) the body of the person to which
blood is donated accepts blood only when blood belongs to same blood group. A and B groups can accept blood of A and B group respectively but they can also accept O group blood.they can donate blood to AB or group person as well person of same blood group. AB group person accept any group blood but can donate blood to AB group only. O group accepts blood group of only O group. thus it is clear that AB group is UNIVERSAL ACCEPTOR as it can accept blood of any group while O is UNIVERSAL DONAR as it can donate blood to person having any blood group.
while donating blood one should b free from any kind of disease or disorders. HIV test should b done(infact it is done).
donar should make sure that the needles used during process of blood donation are sterilized. even acceptor should make sure that the blood to b given to him is tested as HIV -VE and free from any other disease as well.

Blood Donation is exactly what it says.
A person donates blood to a blood bank or a hospital so that someone who needs a blood transfusion can get one.

A Blood Donation can save a life, and only means a few minutes of discomfort for the donor.

Blood donation is when you go to a hospital or clininc & they put a needle in your arm & remove one pint of blood.

Be sure you don't go before eating a meal. Eat first, then donate. Drink plenty first too. They will give you something to eat & drink after, & make sure you are all right before they let you go. Some people experience a little lightheadedness, but most are fine & walk right out after.

One pint will not hurt you & your blood will make up for that within a day or so.
It is good to donate blood, especially if you are O-negative

Blood donation is a process by which a blood donor voluntarily has blood drawn for storage in a blood bank or for subsequent use in a blood transfusion.

Donating blood may reduce risk for heart disease[citation needed], and stimulates the generation of red blood cells. In patients prone to iron overload (e.g. due to hemochromatosis), blood donation prevents the accumulation of iron.

Anecdotally, elderly people in good health have reported feeling invigorated by giving blood on a regular basis.

Finger prick and needle insertion typically cause only minor discomfort. Phlebotomists may however experience difficulties in obtaining enough blood from some donors.

During or shortly after the donation, hypovolemia may occasionally lead to a drop in blood pressure with some donors experiencing light-headedness or fainting. In some cases this may necessitate cancelling the donation, restoring blood volume with an intravenous infusion, or placing the donor in a Trendelenburg position (on a stretcher tilted "legs up"). Beverages may be given to further replenish blood volume, and the donor may have to remain in a horizontal position for a while under monitoring. Most blood banks encourage donors to rest for several minutes after donation (often while eating and drinking) to let them adjust to the loss of blood and reduce the risk of these problems.

In less than 1% of cases, improperly inserting the needle is followed by bruising of the arm in the weeks afterwards.[6]

Negative medical reactions to blood donation are rare and blood bank staff are trained to handle them.

You can donate blood only if you are fit enough to do so. Before every blood donation process, a series of health check-ups are performed on the donor totally free of cost. This will be of great benefit to you. For example, you will come to know of any blood pressure abnormalities. That will help diagnose some of the indolent diseases at the early stage before they get flared up and present with multiple medical problems. Further, after the blood is donated, the blood and blood products that are derived from them are screened for certain infections. You can choose to be informed if they find any abnormality in those screening tests. Frequent blood donations are good free health check-ups that will help you stay healthy.
