What I am sick of is how the government has not helped the Katrina Victims yet! I hope we all hear about it over and over again until these people get the help they need and deserve. Other wise those that has not had tragedy in their lives will too soon forget. I am curious as to what happened to all those trailers for temporary housing? I know there were some who misused the system and received more than they had coming and some went as far to get help that didn't need it. This happens all the time anywhere. You will always have some one out there taking from those that really need it. Too bad they can't come up with a better screening system. In the meantime, there are Innocent victims that still need help. Now that you have ask this cold and heartless question, I hope YOU or your loved ones don't become a victim of some sort. What goes around comes around.

Well, look at it this way...when the tsunamis hit last year, no one questioned citizenship and it was a faster response time. It's a travesty that in the United States when Katrina hit, it took the government FIVE days to respond. It's also a travesty that these folks were called "refugees". How is that possible? Were the tsunami victims referred to as refugees? I think not. The 9th Ward looks like World War III hit it. America can send monies and other aid to Iraq, Lebanon, Afganistan, and other countries but America won't take care of her own. The majority that were devastated were black. What have you done to contribute as far as helping these folks? Have you donated money, food, supplies, or went down with the volunteers? It's so easy to point fingers when you're not in that situation. It's been a year, that's true. But yet there's no relief in sight. Why don't you do something and go down there and help or donate something? You should be sick of the way that this disaster was handled. Think about it and look at it from the points of view from those that have lived through this. What if the shoe were on the other foot and you were them? If you can't take it anymore, then turn off your TV as well as your mind. Remember, it could have been you and/or your family. Be thankful that it wasn't. However, America needs to take care of her own before taking care of the world.
'Nuff said.

Are you serious!! I will pray for you! Personally, I feel that the correct protocol was not taken. Many residents of New Orleans did not have power up to 10 hours before the storm so how could one possibly evacuate. Also, it was not the hurricane that caused all the disaster it was the lack of responsibility of the engineer who waited 40 + years to adhere to the codes and upkeep of the levees. When the levees broke that's when all hell broke loose. That's why people blame the govt. Do you believe if the Statue of liberty needed upkeep or maintenance it will be ignored for 30 + years or even the White House. i don't think so? Ignoring the levees was just the political agenda of the big time builders to rebuild New Orleans as a Casino district. they were just awaiting something to destroy and clear as many poor and minorities as they could without paying them off to move. Gentrification, look it up!!
Imagine your 16 year old cousin picked up for a possible suspect for vandalism on Aug. 28, 2005 just because he fit the description of a young black male with a red t-shirt and blue jeans. He sat in a holding cell for 48 hours. Due to all the drama with Katrina he was not given the phone call nor did he get evacuated. As the water grew him and other whom were stopped or detained by the police just set in a cell while the water was rising. They all drowned many were not even convicted nor did they committ crimes (runaways, profiled suspects) See the media left out so many things and you have the audacity to say its whining many people died slow and painfully, watching there lives pass by why the water rose. Our gov't who say the work for all people have their political agendas and the caliber of people whom made up New Orleans did not make their agenda!! And Katrina was an aid in whipping out what they see as the bottom percentage!! As of today CNN reported that the levees are still not up to par and a category 1-2 hurrican many cause additional damage!!
I'M NOT A VICTIM BUT I HAVE COMPASSION FOR OTHER MANY OF MY FRIENDS AND THERE FAMILY STAYED WITH ME FOR MONTHS WHILE THEY TRY TO PIECE THERE LIVES BACK TOGETHER JUST IMAGINE YOUR LIFE ON A BLACK BOARD FULLED THEN ITS ALL ERASED AWAY!! HOW WOULD YOU FEEL??

No one helps anyone unless there's a profit in it. It has nothing to do with race. It's about money. You're seeing it on television because as a show or special or news report, it's making money... (the shows are gathering a target demographic that is told it wants to buy the products sold in the commercials) once again money. as soon as it stops turning a profit it will shift to the next thing that could potentially make more money.
If you want to beat the system either give away all your possesions and start doing charity work.
Or, Change the channel.

No I am not tired of hearing about it. The issue should never be ignored, it proves there is great social divide in this country. And by the way not all the victims of Katrina are black. I hope a disaster hits your area and then you will know what it is to feel what its like to be in that situation.

WE saw; we gave; we prayed; we heard & heard & heard & heard It's become like pennance -or abu Grabbe. Instead of talking about all the good that our money was used for-it sort of makes me wonder what they did with it all .We know it's a tragedy and if we don't, we should , because we have heard it for 365 days already . The drive-by media and those who didn't get enough handouts are trying to turn the weather into a political
drama .It's not up to the governement to raise these folks for the rest of their natural life. Help thy self already .

nicely except you study or pay interest to gossip, you most likely would not even learn about it. Like my mom, operating example. lol yet besides, that's everywhere in the information because she's 16 and all of us now recognize how a lot of a screwup her older sister is. So shall we all favor to make certain how she will advance this toddler and how she will have the capacity to finally end up because the years bypass by using. This coverage on Jamie-Lynn received't bypass away for decades!

I am not sick of it. What i am sick of is our country favoring the rich. They have enough privileges, it is time for the middle and lower classes to take back what belongs to us...this country.
Our govt has become fat from corruption, greed, sin, self-interest and I am sick of it.
I love our country but I hate our govt.
If a hurricane occurred in an upper class white area the govt would be there licking boots before the hurricane even arrived.
Our country has race issues and class issues. Until that is accepted it cannot be corrected.

Time to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and move on. The state of Florida got beat up by about 5 hurricanes in one year and no one ever hears of that. The vast majority of property damage during Katrina were in MS and AL, but no one hears about that.
