When I was a girl, a young exchange student came to our school. He was the star of our football team and I was a cheerleader. We secretly flirted with each other for almost a year exchanging letters and late night phone calls. Though it was considered taboo for someone of my background to even consider dating outside my race, we began to meet secretly and developed a very passionate relationship. As the time to return to his country came near, we foolishly made plans to run away together. It didn't happen and he returned home without me but I will think of him always. He was the secret love of my life.
