Because Bollywood is a rich industry and rich Indians tend to be fairer skinned. This is pretty typical, I think. They copy other films because its easier than coming up with their own ideas, and they take the ideas and "indianize them" for an audience who likes dance scenes and bad fighting. If you take a look at Tamil movies for example, they are darker, but that could be because Tamil indians (from S. India) tend to be darker skinned anyhow. Its probably not worth your getting upset over. After all, movies don't usually put ugly people in them either, and if they are, they're usually the bad guys. So doesn't it make sense that the movies are going to use good-looking people? After all, thousands of people are going to see them, and will be more likely to see the movies if there are attractive people in them.

Well they're right you gotta be pure Indian or have lived in India or atleast have some relatives who are Indian to understand this.

Bollywood film industry's actors are fair because hindi is spoken in the northern part of India, and thats what bollywood films are, they are hindi films.

You can geographically distinguish Indians' skin tone from where they live, at the north, they are usually fair, then as further down you go, the darker the people. Tamil people are from the south of India, and they are probably the darkest skinned people in India, and they don't understand bollywood films because its not their language.

India has over a 100 languages, and Bollywood films are produced in the hindi language.

The reason they produce so many films is because they localize films from hollywood to put their own indian spin on it, those are easier to create, and the fact that around 20 minutes to half hour of the film (collectively) is just songs.

Its basically, boy meets girl, or girl meets boy. But they can't be together, because of (insert interesting reason here.) by the first hour and a half things keep going swimmingly for the two until either one finds out that the other is (insert some character's attribute that would make him/her seem 'deep' ) But at the end love conquers all! Go India!!

haha, well I hope it answered your question.

Bollywood is not the only Film producing area in India. It simply is the biggest. Most Bollywood Films are in Hindi Language. Hindi is not the only important language in India although it is a National Language.

In India there are other Regional Movie Production areas. Such areas produce Movies in regional languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Assamese, Punjabi etc.

In areas of Southern India where movies are produced there are many great actors who are dark and dusky as well. Plagiarism is found in some or the other way in all aspects of creativity. Indian Movie Industry is not the only one that suffers from this.

To understand this you have to understand the psyche of the Indian people. Unfortunately you cannot understand or know this as you are South African of Indian Origin. One has to live, breath, and get absorbed into India to understand this.

Most Indian Movies are based on one kind of theme, that , in the end " Good wins over the Evil(or Bad)". So they exploit this theme in numerous ways and aspects. There are varying nuances of this theme in all the movies. If you see such movies and you cannot see the differences of such nuances then it has to be the way you understand Indian movies.

I imagine it's the same reason why Halle Berry is valued more for a part than Angela Bassett. White or light has always been seen as the ideal of beauty. Unfortunately, people of color have allowed this to soak into their minds and pollute all the different shades of their beauty. Plus, I imagine that they think that's what the West wants to see. Sure, it's made in India, but they want to do what hollywood does and branch out across the world.

"White skin down through ages has "always" been a sign of beauty, nobility breeding, dignity and elegance.

Freud taught hat "colors have emotions" and deep within the Id archetypal associations are stored: i.e. Yellow color of Hope, Red = Passion, Blue = Spiritual, Green = Nature, White = Purity, Purple -Royalty, Brown = Earth and Black is associated with all the is sinister, unclean, negative and generally associated with Death and "darkness" = ignorance intellectual dimness.

I think you look STUNNING the way you are!! You should rock the pale look! If you wanna get some color for summer then lay out in the sun or go to a tanning salon! Maybe try using bronzer and makeup at home to just see what your eyes would look like next to the darker tone. I think you look Perfect the way you are though
