Maybe because blue is more relaxing, it helps you sleep better, where red is an energy color and looking at it while trying to fall asleep would be a bit harder, and because orange is a happy color maybe it would effect your dreams? I'm not crazy, I was just thinking of the possibility. My sheets are beige and I know that it's been making me feel more relaxed than when I had black sheets. Maybe.

Well I lay there a little while before i'm able to drift off. So this would only be a question for those who do the same.

I think it's possible if you believe strongly enough that the color of your sheets have an effect on how you sleep.
Individual beliefs can be pretty powerful...if you feel their is an impact, than most likely to you their is an impact. And if it has a positive effect in some way, then sleep on the sheets that allow for a better night sleep. :-)

Yes I do think the colour of your sheets could have an effect. I suspect the effect would be negligible because while you are sleeping you are not seeing the colour. Also if the whole room was in the said colour the effect might be greater.

I do not think you are crazy to speculate on this idea because many large companies are exploring and exploiting this concept by manipulating people's moods in restaurants for example. Some colours are relaxing and in certain restaurants the resulting feel good factor is an advantage to the business. Other restaurants that are less upmarket might choose a less relaxing colour to encourage a faster turnover.

I have no idea whether or not schools and prisons capitalize on this concept but they should do because it seems obvious to me that if some colours are more relaxing than others, then it is not beyond the realms of possibility that the relaxing colours might have a calming effect on those who are ordinarily violent or rowdy. It would appear that there is much potential merit from a financial perspective in using this as a means of gentle control over people where appropriate.

All this also begs the question, can certain colours have an effect for example on concentration and the ability to study, if so there are obvious implications regarding the way schools, colleges and universities are decorated and so on.

Do you sleep with the lights on and your eyes open? That is really the only way that the color of your sheets could affect you.

Personally, I turn my light off and close my eyes as soon as I hit the pillow. After about 30 seconds I really couldn't tell you the color of my sheets, it is the farthest thing from my mind.

If you can't see the sheets, the effect of the color is purely in your head.

Funny you ask this...I have always slept on light colored sheets - white, pink, lavender. I bought a set of crimson colored sheets that match my duvet. I swear I don't sleep as well on those as I do when I sleep on my soft colored sheets. The thread count is the same on all of them - so maybe it's a subconscious thing

yes because you're sleeping behavior is also affected by the way the your mind percieve the color of your bedsheet..when your bedshhet is somewhat abstract or very irritating to your eyes the reaction of your brain follows.

You're right. Color affects the mood of some more than others. It certainly affects mine.
