Why do they have this huge, white, modernly architectural design for some guy to walk around it and tell you that you should take this pill for heart disease or whatever? Why does it have to be a big weird building? I don't get the advertisement psychology in there.

I'm interested in advertisement! That's why I want to know. I might even go to college for this. But i've been told a couple of times that I think too much. I do think things over way too much.

The white background is intended to draw all the viewer's attention to the actor in the commercial. In the commercial you're describing, the actor is Mandy Patinkin, who played a doctor in the series Chicago Hope. So even though he isn't a *real* doctor, there's an association for the viewer.

He looks authoritative, yet compassionate. Concerned about *your* well being. The people who designed the commercial want you to see that and not be distracted by a busy, cluttered background.

Plus, having him moving adds more visual interest, and is less trite than having him sit behind a desk in what looks like a doctor's office.

The white is so you keep you eye on him. The room does the same thing all you see is him the walking is to add a little more sound footsteps. people tend to pay attention to foot steps. Years ago vw came out with this great add which captured a lot of attention the add came out in Life mag. It was a full page nothing but white with this little vw in the middle. Remember less is more

But you are so right!I have always wondered about those middle aged guys talking about Lipitor,hanging out
at an office park.I always imagine them keeling over right in the middle of their dialogue after their aortas explode.

Maybe the psychology here is;Don't work in a corporate environment!

You are way to deep, think about something more important!!
It's a commercial, which at least three quarters of them are stupid anyway, change the channel
