The mayor is trying to press charges against business that hire illegals and trying to press charges against people who rent to them. Isn't he just upholding the law? If his town were overrun with drug dealers nobody would say a word about him inforcing the law but since it's illegal aliens then the public is outraged. They are here illegaly and he has the right to uphold the law?

You're right, it's not a race issue. He is trying to uphold the law and the people of his community are trying to throw him out of town.

well who cares about the illegal immigrants any way? I mean I 'm not trying to be rude but if a Mexican is here illegaly deport them. This country is not free to live in. we do not pay taxes for them. I have lots of friends and family members that came to America from third world countries and they all did it legally. And they all pay there taxes as well. illegal immigrants all get payed under the table which is against the law and immoral to do. Everybody needs to contribute to the society that they live in and pay taxes..if they can't then they need to get out!

Truly, the main issue in "upholding" the law is whether the entity (the mayor in this case) has jurisdiction. The Federal government, unless an emergency exists, does not enforce local law. Normally, local officials are not responsible for enforcing Federal law, and labor violations is usually a state or Federal department of Labor issue. I have never heard renting to illegal aliens is against any state or Federal law, so the mayor probably can do that. I have never proven citizenship to any landlord.

I agree with the mayor on this, and its not illegal. Your basic question is misleading. He's not trying throw out Mexicans. He's trying to get rid of the ILLEGAL immigrants, it doesn't matter where they are from. People are trying to make this a race issue and that pisses me off because it is not.

It is his right to try to get it passed as law in his city. It's been done in others already. Sadly, the protests help his cause.
