I've given up. I can sit down and flip through the channels, find something I like, and curl up on the couch. It never fails--my husband will walk in, glance at the TV, and say, "Hand me the channel changer."

YES! my ex hubby and I used to fight over which program to watch until I gave up. He's a "scanner, " the kind of guy who likes hopping from one TV program to another. It made me so dizzy I decided it's not worth it. Everytime I ask him to please stop scanning he stops in the middle of any, and I mean ANY program and glues his eyes to it whether he likes it or not. If you ask him if he likes that particular show he says no, but continues to watch because you told him to stop scanning. (and no he's not dumb, he's a corporate guy for crying out loud). It was so annoying.

As it seemed too silly to get another TV, I rediscovered the love of reading. Luckily, bf right now is so cool with the remote control. We don't fight over it. We agree on what to watch and simply watch and have a great time. It's what watching TV is all about, after all.

Moral of the story? I changed hubby.

We don't have a tv and we don't fight over the remote control. My bf's boss is continuously trying to make us have one as a present but I won't allow any tv around! No tv, no fight :)

Not at my house. The living room remote is mine to hold and control, the bedroom remote is the wife's.

Hubby home (disabled) watches Star Trek constantly, has to watch Simpsons, Monk, Everyone loves Raymond, etc. Son gets home, watches pool, poker, etc. I get home, I get to watch my shows, only 1 at 10pm on Mon, Tues, and 9pm Wed. Other than that, I dont watch too much tv. Can't stand the flipping back and forth, from one show to another. So I make a list of what I want to watch, tape it on the tv and there is no question of what is being watched then. If they dont like it, they can go to another room.

We actually fight over the laptop because we're both too lazy to get up and go to the desktop and the laptop sits on our coffee table.
