First thing, is if it is under warranty, get that replaced ASAP!
If not, you need a new LCD panel, if the rest of your screen is still bright, and dispalying fine, we know that the FL Inverter is still good, the connection is ok, and so is the system board.
If it is not under warranty, check ebay for a new display, or take it a repair center and get a quote. I do this for a living, and generally display repairs run from 400-500$ on average. Just depends on the model, type of screen, size, etc. So best of luck!

That part of the screen is near death. I would recommend exercising your warranty and have the screen replaced.
If your computer is outside the warranty, it may be cheaper to buy a new laptop. Please check with the manufacturer's authorized repair centers.
