The 1999 version of "The Thomas Crown Affair," starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo is far superior to its 1968 predecessor, which starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway.
Alfred Hitchcock also did a remake of one of his own films. The American version of "The Man Who Knew Too Much" (1956, Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day) is often preferred to the 1934 British version (starring Leslie Banks and Edna Best).

Red Dragon (originally called Manhunter), The Italian Job, The Thomas Crown Affair, Ocean's 11, the 1970s version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, t.v. miniseries version of The Shining (didn't say it was better than the original, just decent).

I have to ditto the choices of Red Dragon, The Italian Job and Thomas Crowne Affair, all three not only "decent" but better than the originals!

I like the Longest Yard re-make. Adam Sandler and Chris Rock are great! (A lot better than the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory re-make...that one just plain sucked.)
