I think the evil that is Political Correctness has much to do with people re-thinking on the spot the appropriateness of what they are saying. When you pull back from making a correct statement you are left with having to change your intent somewhat. I also believe that people have been taught by their parents to lie while growing up to prevent the outside world knowing about the parents' negative behaviors. This has become more pronounced in the last decade since the government has become more intrusive in our lives and the consequences of that intrusiveness potentially devastating to the family. Further, we know today that our elected representatives lie all the time depending upon which way the money and votes are flowing. We see this in closeup as most of our elected officials from the president on down would surrender the sovereinty of our country to keep the economy hustling and their poll numbers high. Also, young people know that advertising sucks them into a lifestyle they cannot maintain and they learn to lie to stave off the truth lest their friends think less of them.
Lying today is a defense mechanism used to wade through the conflicting messages given at all levels of the government vis-a-vis the media and advertising. Tragic.

I have often wondered that myself. Is it an all out lie, or just having a differening opinion on viewing the circumstances. Sometimes people leave things out intentionally to present a biased view. Is it fair to call that a lie? I used to think that my ex husband lied to me all the time, which he did. I have rethought some of his lies and put them in a catagory of someone that is not reliable and does not follow through with what they say they will do. When you have someone that makes promises to do something with you or the kids and it doesn't happen. At the time, their intent was to do what came out of their mouth. If it doesn't happen does that make it a lie? I have changed my opinion about that and have to say no. It makes their word unreliable and not trustworthy. It guess it is all in how a person perceives what is being said.

Proverbs 19:9 The fake witness won't circulate unpunished, and he who utters lies will perish. Revelation 21:27 ...yet no longer something unclean will enter it, nor any (one) who does abominable issues or tells lies. purely those will enter whose names are written interior the Lamb's e book of existence. John 8:40 4 You belong on your father the devil and you willingly carry out your father's desires. He grow to be a murderer from the beginning up and would not stand in certainty, because of the fact there isn't any certainty in him. while he tells a lie, he speaks in character…" .

I agree with you, most liars suffer very low self esteem and find it hard to believe that people will like and respect them for who they are.
