I went to see 'Another place' by Antony Gormley recently.
This is a piece of art which involves 100 life sized figures on Crosby beach. They run along a 3 KM stretch and go 1KM out to sea.
It made me think what is the biggest piece art ever done in terms of size or area. (Im not really including buildings here)

I know the universe and stuff is great.
Its got to be something made by a human sculptor.

4 Million sq metres by Ando in the Australian outback, beating previous record by Christo wrapping a bunch of islands by six times. See link. Make sure you enlarge the picture (by clicking on it) - it's truly amazing.

Covering over 4 million square metres (over five million square yards), this Andoscape was 'painted' onto the landscape of the Mundi Mundi Plains in Australia. The Stockman image was chosen to represent those who pioneered the Outback plains of Australia and is from an original drawing by Ando. Although the co-ordination and measuring of the on-site image was completed by Ando with the assistance of Canadian Christine Righetti, the actual image was drawn and interpreted entirely by Ando. The process was one that took enormous attention to detail and tens of thousands of calculations.
The image, known as Mundi Man or Eldee Man is located on Mundi Mundi Plains, NSW. "I have done hundreds of paintings of landscapes on canvas but this is the first time I have used the landscape as my canvas!"
INTERESTING FACT:
Ando's artwork is more than six times larger than the previous " largest work of art in the world " done by Christo when he wrapped 11 islands in Florida, USA

There are some huge canvases in the Louvre, in the same room as the Mona Lisa. The Raft of the Medusa is one of them, massive thing.

Probably something by Christo , google him, i bet it's a coastline wrapped in fabric of something similar. He's done buildings, ships and all sorts, wrapped in fabric that is, check him out.
Oh yeah and James Turrell, he's got something going on with an old volcano crater in Nevada. Let me know what you find out!
