I am afraid that it comes down to simple presentation.

Many people make their judgement of a company merely by how its employees are dressed. Sad, but true.

This is why if you go in fast food restaurants the staff have to wear silly outfits so that the customer feels superior. The oposite applies to business; everyone is trying to outsmart each other.

Hope this helps a bit - for what it's worth.

It is very important. What employees wear has a direct reflection on the company. You could be the best worker in the world, but if you are dressed sloppy, for instance, you give off the idea that your work is sloppy too.

It is called IMAGE. When you see a uniform for a particular company it is easily recognizable everywhere you go. For UPS the brown uniform and the brown truck is easy to see and is the same in the US and if you went to Turkey or China. Just a very good tool in advertising.

Sometimes for safety reasons like safety equipment like steel-capped boots on building sites and stuff, plus its about appearance too, you are representing that company by working for them so there for they want you to be well dressed, presentable and wearing appropriate clothes for the job
