Lack of sleep can enhance or lead to other problems.......like depression! See your doctor and follow their advise. Do try and set up a sleeping pattern. Turn off the TV/computer/DVD etc etc......at least an hour before sleep to allow your mind to switch off. Reading in bed is ok but don't push yourself to keep reading.......read for an hour then switch off the light. It took my partner about 2 months to get himself 'programed' to sleep. And if you wake in the middle of the night at a semi regular time you may need to get up to go to the loo or get a quick drink of water. Try not to turn the lights on, it wakes you up too much. I need a sip of water about 2 or 3 each morning. Took me a while to figure it out but now I wake, have a drink and I'm asleep again in 5 or 10 minets.
Good luck! :-)

While answer #1 is good, you may want some additional information, in order to better discuss things with your doctor.

Please consider checking out the symptoms link at www.hufa.org. Your inability to sleep and your weight problem may be symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) one of the pre-diabetic conditions resulting from high insulin production (hyperinsulinemia).

This site has basic information about this condition, and some other conditions that can worsen it (like Candida).

Go to your doctor. If he/she prescribes drugs, take them as directed.

If you need drugs, you need them. There's nothing wrong with that, and it's a lot better than not sleeping for long periods of time.

as we know, mind and body are interconnected. your thought about your physical weight! has gone to your sub-conscious mind. that is not allowing you to sleep !!
VISION WITHOUT ACTION IS DAYDREAM.
ACTION WITHOUT VISION IS NIGHTMARE.
VISION + ACTION = PROGRESS.
Follow up a program(physical exercises), have immense faith in yourself that you are going to become slim and strong - you will get a good night's sleep. if you are not getting sleep try doing more exercise!!!!
