office politics???

I am a web designer in dubai. in my office there is full of politics and I am in a situation to work under a project manager who know nothing and having less years of exp than me.I am very much disappointed . He doesnt know what is web designs. I dont know what to do?

Well, one time or other time, most people face a situation like this: working under a person who knows less than you and less experienced. But dont worry.

Wait for a moment where you can prove your worth. Do a task that others thought impossible (web design task, I mean). Have good relationships with those people above you. Dont show your disappointment on work.

If still situation doesnt improve, then change your job.

Fortunately for programmers, there are many ways to 'sign' your work.

In some cases, its mandatory that the creator put his contact details in the source.. in other cases, optional.

While the project manager should deserve credit for any leadership of the project, he doesnt deserve coding credit.


As a project manager in the past, I too had the same problem.
But in my case, it was a well known fact that the project leader knew nothing but MS project and 'coordinating, and that I was the batch/coding guy, who also was a coordinator.

He was in fact a better coordinator than me, so I subsisted on the job at hand (was y2k & batch functions).

If possible, see if you can work under a different manager. If it bothers you that much, you may want to look for another company. Unfortunately, this situation is very common these days.
