Whenever I turn on the air in my car, whether it be the vent, AC, or the defrost, my engine will rev up every 30 seconds or so. I've also noticed that the battery gauge slightly jumps lower directly before the engine revs up. I have a '95 Ford Thunderbird. Any advice?

This is normal. The A/C compressor cycles on and off during normal operation, and the computer speeds up the engine just a little so it doesn't die every time this additional load is placed on it. The A/C compressor also runs during defrosting too.

The Gage reading is merely reflecting the added load of the compressor clutch, which is electrically powered.

Keep up the good job of monitoring gages.

It is probably the pump cycling to often and is cause by low freon in the system. Have it checked and topped off if needed. Good luck !

P.S. It is not "normal" for the pump to cycle every 30 seconds !

I agree with Paul. It is normal for your car to be doing this unless you are just running the vent.
