I'll help you driftwood. I'm your counterpart so to speak. I think fast and can't shut up. It's a bit of a curse sometimes though, I've said things upon occasion that, well regardless how entertaining; did have repercussions! It's possible that you've much to say, the way you've scripted here seems well thought out. I'll pass along some of my ways of enjoying a conversation with my six siblings, all who have something to say; always at the same time. I'm the youngest by the way, that should give you an idea of how hard it is to get that edge wide word in! Perpare for a party by thinking about several amusing antedotes, break each story down to two or three "Hooks". That means the introduction to your story, what makes it interesting and grabs or"Hooks" their attention. In conversation if want to talk about what your thinking about this is a good way to start! This is where introverts can freeze up, you've got them and their paying you the attention now. You've got two, tops three seconds to deliver before someone else takes the ball. This may seem like little time but change pour view about it if you can. think about it this way, if you felt the attention was unpleasant it would seem like forever, think about it like that, but think it is pleasant; don't adjust your new time line while you do. Count it off right now, One one thousand, two two thousand; three three thousand. That's three seconds. You can deliver the next stanza of your story in that time frame easily. To hold them at this point change the volume and tone of your voice. Lowering your voice brings people in closer, you actually see them lean forward a bit; this is your visual aid that they are interested in your bit. The change in tone of your voice is almost impossible to resist; we're hard wired to eavesdrop; and that is a queue to the mind that "It better pay attention". Pick a topic or two, practice the timing in two and three second intervails; then apply. From this you build upon the moments that you can and want to hold the rudder in a conversation. The more you do it the better you'll get. I hope this helps you out a bit, you've got plenty to contribute I'm sure you must; we all do. After all everyone likes a story, and we've all got one! best of Luck! Hey let me know how it goes, I can; if you wanted of course; tell you more. Remember this if you can too, Rome wasn't built in a day. It's the practicial that makes it work!

i think that you answered your own question. You know how you want to come across to other people so just use what you allready have inside you. It isnt necessary to use words with more than three syllables to engage in conversation. Besides, if the company you are with doesnt let you get a word in then start your own conversation with another group because chances are the other group feels the same way. Get some confidence. No one person is on a higher level than you are-its just the fear in your head

The solution to your problem is not through greater speed of thought, but through a slower speed of thought. Same problem here, but I overcame. I slowed my mind DOWN, I took my time, I listened more profoundly and savored the opinions of others. Don't feel as though you are obligated to play an active role in social conversations. Just retreat within yourself, relax, slow down, enjoy each person in a group conversation and their words without any need or intention of actively engaging verbally. People respect that quiet participant in social conversations. And, they find pleasure in being truly listened to. If you are going to bumble the situation anyway if you try to speak or prematurely form opinion, then give it up and devote your time at social affairs at being the observer and learner. BE what you're good at.

Perhaps if one does not try to anticipate what a person is going to say next to them they can respond to what is actual said faster and more intelligently. Perhaps if one would truly listen to what a person was saying instead of trying to prepare an impressive reply before they finish one could reply quicker with a more intelligent reply.

You need to hang out with slower group of people. Your group seems a little too assertive and animated. It also helps if you are in a group that interests you and talks about topics that are of interest to you.

nice to see that I'm not alone. The trick is to relax and letthe conversation flow. You'll getthe hang of it then. Plus, it's not a must that you should speak and when you do, think twice. It get's better with practice.

Training your mind, just like training the body through exercises.
Read some books on the subject you want to improve, and then practice, practice, practice your new knowledge.

Stop thinking so hard and trust yourself. Sometimes I think so fast, I don't know where it comes from. And it is good stuff, I try to get a pencil and paper and write it down, I am so amazed.
