Most of the womens who give birth to a child happens by being operated and not a normal delivery why does it happen so. Are todays women not taking proper diet during the time of pregnancy, are they unhealthy/unfit? OR Are the docters cheating for gaining money (even if it is a normal delivery sometimes the doctors may tell a lie and do the operation). Please tell something reasonable.

First off, most of the children born in the USA are NOT born by c/s. Most of them are born vaginally. The c/s rate here *IS* too high though.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics, in 2004, 29.1% of all births were C-sections, a 40% increase since 1996. One big reason for the USA's rising c/s rate is the declining percentage of women who are allowed to have a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean).

According to the World Health Organization, "Countries with some of the lowest perinatal mortality rates in the world have caesarean rates under 10%. Clearly there is no justification in any specific region to have more than 10-15% caesarean section births."

A mother REALLY needs to talk to her caregiver about what his c/s rate is before hiring him to attend her during her pregnancy and birth. Anything over 15% is just too high!

Unfortunately, there are doctors out there who rush to cut moms open. And there are doctors out there who can't handle just sitting and letting mom go into labor on her own but instead want to intervene and induce even though there is nothing wrong with her or baby and her due date hasn't even arrived yet. These inductions can begin a cascade of interventions that can end in a c/s. And the fact that *SO MANY* mothers opt for epidurals can be a contributing factor as well. Once you allow any intervention, there are others that follow it (the cascade of interventions) and this can possibly end up in a c/s.

Actually it isn't most. It is heading that way but right now (in the US) it is about 33-35 % nation wide. Some hospitals have a higher than 50% rate of c-sections though.

The reason being is not the women but the doctors. I guess you could say it is part the woman's fault because they have lost faith in nature and instead put their trust in doctors.

Why do doctors do it? Many do it because of money, many do it because they do not have to sit around and wait for a long labor but MOST do it because of liability. If anything goes wrong with a baby during a vaginal delivery (and I mean anything) then the mother/Father or insurance can cry and say "you didn't do everything you possibly could have. Everything could have been different had you given her a c-section" Now we never know if a c-section would have helped or not but that doesn't matter. But if you deliver a baby by c-section and something goes wrong then a doctor can say "you See...I did everything I possibly could"

So who do we really blame? I am not sure. But I am so sick of all the unnecessary pain and suffering women and babies go through unnecessary.

Women and babies would actually be better off going into the woods to have their baby. There would be less trauma to both mother and baby. They just need to trust their bodies. Our bodies were meant to have babies just as they were meant to have a bowel movement, just as we were meant to eat food, have sex, grow hair, it is a natural process.

Now I am very glad that science and medicine have come along far enough to help those that really do need a c-section but still angry that that same science/medicine is being used on thousands of women that do not need it. If only women that really needed c-sections were given them it would be closer to 5-10% not 33-35%.

Honey? I have had all natural deliveries and I have a girlfriend who has had all cesearean. It depends on the size of the baby and the width of the pelvis and I think your numbers are off. Most women have them vaginally. You could have a point about doctors trying to bilk for un=needed services though. You do have a good point.

This is for Rochelle. Honey? I had 3 little 6 pound girls and had a 9 lb boy. I am 5 ft tall and weigh 95 lbs. It doesn't matter how big you are. :)

I dont believe these women that say they delivered naturally. Naturally means no drugs either. Many women believe that they had their children naturally if they had a vaginal delivery. The drugs and c sections in my opinion are due to money and fear. Doctors and drug companies are in it for the money and women are scared into using these drugs. Most deliveries are done to help the hospital staff and not the mother. Sometimes these routines cause stress in the child requiring c section and sometimes selfish mothers just demand them.

I agree, most are done by natural. But even if you had the baby natural, I find a lot of doctors inducing the labor if the baby is considered overdue. Unless it's WAY over due, or something is wrong or something, I'd say, let nature take care of it when it is time to go into labor. That is my options. Oh by the way, Mom had a emergency c/s and she still lost the baby. If they had done it sooner, the baby would have lived.

I did not have a choice when I gave birth to my son. We HAD to do an emergency c-section or risk losing him. It's a good thing we did too because his cord was wrapped around his neck to the point that he was on oxygen for 7 days. Depending on the insurance you have, some companies won't let you have a c-section unless it's life or death. Then again, there are those women who just like the idea of getting to choose when to have their baby. If you ask me, that kinda takes all the fun out of it

I don't know where you get your information from. Natural childbirth is still the most common. But now a days they can preform a C-section to deliver a baby that shows any signs of stress during labor. And because they have this option I think you see it more and you see A LOT LESS obituaries with babies and moms in them that died at childbirth due to complications.

My son is going to be 3 this year and he was born on Thanksgiving Day. He was born natural and I'm pregnant now if i can help it this little girl will be the same way. However, if she going to be some 8 lb. baby then I'd rather her get cut out of me. I'm only 4' 10".. I have 2 friends who had children and both of there's were born by c-setion for they both had breech babies. Not a darn thing you can do about that.

I had both my children naturally!!! Doctors prefer to do ceasers so that they can pen you in to their diaries!!! It is more convenient for them so you don't get them out of bed etc! When I first went to the doctor when I found out I was pregnant, I told him that I refuse to have a ceaser unless it is a life/death situation. Both my babies were fine and thank goodness I didn't have to go the surgical route.
