North Australia, late afternoon in early summer. Somoene was burning a lot of pushed timber and the column of smoke rose thousands of feet into the air. At the top of of the smoke column a thunderhead formed and devloped into a storm.

For a few minutes it wasa truly magnificent sight from a distance, with rain and lightning pouring down from the cloud and the smoke pouring up form the ground. Then the cloud system broke up and became much les simpresive.

We were on a beach in Salou, Costa Dororda, and we watched a storm coming in across the sea, the lightning was spectacular , we started to gather our bags up to leave the beach as we moved off the storm broke over our heads. I had never seen rain like it or since, we had to walk up a steep hill before we got to our hotel, by the time we were half way up floodwater was swirling around our knees, I was so scared by that time, I mean the Spanish are not so hot with their electrics, Their lamp posts had bare wires hanging, lol, I thought oh bugger I am going to be sporting a new hair style before we get back. The thunder was rolling overhead , the storm had turned day to night, The lightning was the the only thing lighting our way home. Happy to say that we made it back to the hotel in one piece and my hair was not a frizz ball lol. I will never forget that storm.

I stood and watched a storm out my door. Fences, and trees were blowing down. House roofs were blowing off. I did not see all this, just some of it. I never felt in any danger. After the storm subsided, I found out it was a tornado. I felt really stupid!
