I had this same question! apparently there will be an accessory you can buy that will let you connect your memory cards the the PS3. The other option is playing all your old games again and saving them to the PS3 hard drive.

I don't think so.................cos the PS3 is going to have a new format all together whether it's the BLU-RAY drive instead of a DVD drive or a HIGH-LEVEL graphics engine,it's supposedly going to be a NEXT-GEN mini computer!!!!!!!

So,I'd not be hopeful if I were Uof trying to play PS2 save games by simply inserting the memory card.
I'm also not sure that MANY PS2 (or should I say ANY for that matter) game would run on the PS3 as it's a NEXT-GEN console with lot of "Cutting -Edge" features!!!!
So, if I were U I'd hurry up finishing up the unfinished PS2 games rather than hoping to run old PS2 games on the HI-FI PS3
&
HAPPY GAMING,DUDE!!!

The PS3 will run PS2 games. As for the memory card you might have to buy some kind of emulator to get the memory cards to work.

All PS3s can play PS1 video games. The 20GB, 60GB, and previous 80GB (with 4 USB ports) can play PS2 video games. All others received't. i'm not even going to say something on your very last question except no, there is not any new pscoming (the PS3s in ordinary words 2 years previous!) and to easily purchase it and don't be disturbed.
