Why because France didn't agree with the invasion of iraq some idiots changed french fries to freedom fries? Is it because they don't have a brain cell and think that by changing the name it's gonna scare "terrorists"? What next, if Italy doesn't agree we change Italian style pizza to Freedom style pizza?

MAN! that's old news. They already went back to french fries a long time ago.
I think freedom fries was born from the fact that no one likes the french anyway.

They've actually officially changed it back to "French Fries", so you are a bit late. Yes, apparantly they had to because the french were threatening to rename Americana Pizza into Welfare Pizza.

French fries are called Pommes Frittes in France, Sweden.. and germany? While Finland calls them "Frenchies", much like the Americans do.

Adding freedom was a bad move. They should have just dropped the French off of the name. We really don't like the French people as a whole and not merely for their support of Saddam Husein's regime of terror, but also because they are just stupid arrogant bastards who were born to whore mothers and left behind by American soldiers who saved them from speaking German and being sent to gas chambers.

I still just refer to them as "fries". And when I order my food I just get the burger or sandwich and refuse the fries because they are ultra fattening.

There is no such food as Italian style pizza. It's just pizza.

To answer your question, I'm not sure why someone thought it would be a good thing. I suppose it was to tell the French that they did not agree with them and it was something important to them.

It's ignorant, especially considering that French Fries didn't even originate in France. I refuse to eat anywhere that calls them Freedom Fries.

It's so stupid. Alot of Americans don't agree with this war either, me being one of them. You don't see them changing the name to Unpatriotic cheese, you know? Fries are fries and I've always called them French fries. I ordered them as that too when all of this crap was going down, and when the person at the counter said "You mean Freedom Fries?" I said "NO, French Fries." :)

Its more than obvious that youve never researched this problem before you opened your mouth and let ignorance spew forth.

Heres just one site that has facts about what a "good" friend the French have been.
