Depends on what you want to go for. For engineering I would look at Massachusetts Institute of Technology or one of the military academies, however some of the smaller technical schools (2-years) are also wonderful. New York has 5 schools of technolgy which have excellent reputations (http://www.suny.edu/Student/campuses_map.cfm the ones in the blue rectangles).

You can't go wrong with MIT (Mass. Institute of Technology).
