Many mothers and doctors alike share the point of view that babies do hear even before they are born. Is this true? If so how has it been proved?

Yes. I'm 28 weeks and my baby responds to sounds...if there is a loud noise outside my body, I can feel him jump if he is startled, and he has already developed some taste in music...certain songs that i play to him through a special fetal speaker make him move around more, and even occasionally kick to the beat, and he moves around a lot when my husband talks to him. If he can't hear, then i have no explanation why he responds to sounds.

Yes they can hear, but for the majority of the pregnancy they only feel vibrations, so it's kind of like they can react as if they hear. I am pregnant now and have read a lot about being pregnant. I actually saw a video on a site where they preformed an ultrasound on a baby and made a loud noise while they were doing it, and the baby was actually jumped, then opened its mouth and started crying in utero. It was so amazing!

Oh, I found the link, here you go:

All of the babies senses are developed and active by the seventh month. The fetus will definitely react to sound and my baby gets more active when dad comes home cause he always talks to my stomach. After seventh month, the baby is pretty much developed and just continues to grow in length and gain weight until birth.
Read a book on human growth and development.

They have ears, why wouldn't they be able to hear. Its just like you are able to hear if you dive under water. The proof is how a baby calms when it hears familiar voices like, mom, dad or siblings when they are upset. Why else would they do this if they were not already comforted and familiar with these voices before birth.

My doctor gave me a book with information on it. I read to my belly and I also put ear phones on my belly and played classical and soothing music. The say it can raise their intelligence. My children are both smart plus I think doing those things help relax the mother as well.

Yes my friend they can listen....if you are going to be a father then firstly congratulation....secondly your baby will start actually communicating to you once your wife is in the 7th month of pregnency....he/she will start moving the minute they hear your voice and if you touch the belly they will hit where your hand is and if you move they will move along...

Heavenly i say....Chow
