WOW.... it never stops to amaze me the number of people who think they know when they actually do not have a clue. Not to claim that I, my self, know better than any of you However, let us think of the following factors:
1- The US is a federation of 50 States. Europe is a federation of about 25 states.
2- The US would like to be a super power, Europe don't care that much about such role.
3-To that person who claims that Americans give donations by choice and through generosity, Sir you really wanna convince me that you give out donations to foreign countries out of pure goodness even if it wasn't Tax deductible?
I do not understand why so many of you out there keep trying to make us sound an ANGLE country. A state without any mistakes or wrong doing. Why can't we just admit our shortcomings and try to correct them. If we are, truly, a great nation, then we have to act like one and stop acting like jerks by abusing whom ever criticize us.

Europe is not a single country, but several. Go back and figure out the breakdown by country in terms of money and human resources. The United States is one country. Or if you want to say Americans in the literal sense, you are talking about 2 continents and several countries. Another consideration...Are you looking at just government aid? What about private donations?

Europe is a continent not a country. If your using that logic you would also have to include Canada and South America with the US. The US is the biggest donor in absolute terms but in relative terms (to Gross National Income) they usually are found to be last or second among developed countries. Essentially the richest country in the world is also the least charitable, also the US is one of the worst countries for using its aid as a foreign policy rather than a humanitarian tool and using it to provide business to american companies.

Funny, last I heard Europe was a continent, not a country genius. In your logic I guess we would include Canada, the United States and Mexico.
The United States is the biggest giver of aid to the world. No other country surpases her generosity.

You don't "donate". Your governments tax the hell out of you and decide to flatter themselves by being generous with your money. We call that "foolishness".
But if you look at private donations - donations given freely by the people out of their own pockets, you will find we ARE the biggest donor. Period.
You see, we're intelligent enough to realize that someone taking money from us then giving it away is not charity. It is theft and ego-gratification.

Funny I've never heard anyone say "we are the biggest aid donors" before. We give alot and people think we don't do anything but cause wars. We are just defending ourselves, as always!
