The practice of Thanksgiving in November, 4th of July and so forth... the colonists started some things in America, the evolution of the American justice system for one.
America is a melting-pot of all cultures but they all can share their cultures as well as the American culture.
Myself for instance... I have Scottish heritage, I might go to my friends down the street who's family is from Korea and share my Haggis (oh they probably will never want that again but at least they would know what it is).
Jimjim is right about the art. It's too bad we didn't accept some of it until someone else tried it so we imported it at first. I'm talking about the delta blues. We ended up buying everything the English (Beatles, Stones) recorded when we had the originals right here the whole time. The derivative of the delta blues became rock-n-roll.... or as musicians (like myself) call it the 1-4-5.

American culture is a vast field with culture and art by Americans.

I say the top number is the American music among other things.The blues and its kids is a Enormous gift.

But if you mean a fixed way of life you are lost.
The myth of The American way of life is mostly used by Eurocentrics generations from Europe.
And US contain many many many diff.cultures

But i think the redneck seem to belive they are the norm.
So do the religious right.They see their way of life as norm for
"american culture" .

America consists of many different countries - not just the USA. Most Americans speak Spanish, not just from Mexico down, but also there are large numbers of Spanish speakers in North America too.
But there were many American indigenous cultures before the European invasion.

America is actually a very young nation. Most of our culture comes from those who have immigrated here over the past three hundred years. Our culture is a mix of many cultutes from all over the world.
