suppose you want to make a program for nokia n70 then you have download SDK(Software developement kit) for the same.....either from nokia.com or any other site if someone provides.............in that kit they provide a software cloning of that of the actuall hardware phone's sioftware with same interface .......so can program in that and see the output....almost like you are testing the prog ....in the real hardware.....

java can be used to pogram anything........as you must be knowing that its architectural independent.......you just have to need an interpreter based on ur target machine........

this is the reason that almost all java programs made for say Nokia 6230i will run on the Nokia N series but with minor differences of reolution....colors...coz they were made on the SDK of Nokia 6230i not N series......

i dont get the idea how will you use c++ in phones......as it is mentioned above

Symbian is the operating system.
You can write any programming language for which there is an interpreter or a compiler.
Java and C++ are two programming languages that you can use.
