I need to carry on working where I am so would need to train part time or distance learning for now.

Any ideas on the best qualifications to get and how to find out more about them?

Also, any advice on paying for the qualifications? Is there funding available and where do I find out about it from?

Contact the Open University or Learn direct. Prospects.ac.uk is also a useful resource for learning about the requirements for particular types of professions including pay, working hours, etc. That should be a good starting point

Do you mean counsellor? If you do mean councillor, the best way is to join the political party of your choice and get involved on a local basis. They may well be glad of having the new blood and someone who's keen to be politically active and stand for election.

You don't say if you want to be a Political COUNCILLOR or a COUNSELLOR in another field.

Judging by the way you to spelt it you want to go into Politics - then you just need to join a local party.

You either need to join a political party and shin up the greasy pole, or you need to take spelling lessons before you start giving out life-changing advice.

know the area of the councilor - everything from the constituents to its resources to its history. then know what is needed is is desired by the area or th constituents, then be alert in current events.
