I remember reading so-called eye-witness accounts of individuals who claim that there were people in the superdome raping and murdering women and children after Hurricane Katrina. One man was reported to have seen a mob of people beat a man tor raping and slashing the throat of a 13-year old girl who went to use the bathroom. I heard similar stories on an episode of Oprah and I heard Ray Nagin say this. I also saw people on TV saying this. Then after the fact, it was reported that these claims were not true or could not be confirmed. What REALLY happened? Did these things actually occur and if not, why would someone spread such awful lies? If these reports were not true, how could the media report them without making sure that these claims were true? And if these claims are indeed true, what is being done about it.

As far as anyone knows these stories were either lies or greatly exaggerated. This would not be the first time that the press reported the rumor before the facts were in. the fact is that conditions at the super dome were ripe for something like that to happen. there was no air conditioning, overcrowding, and poor sanitation. It would appear that reporters, instead of doing a real investigation simply took the word of people outside of the dome rather than pursue the story in a hot smelly place.

Unfortunately, they were true. Did you also know that gangs raided the police dept. in N.O. and stole guns the proceeded to the hospitals and held medical staff at bay while they confiscated drugs? After that, they marched across the Greater N.O. bridge into Jefferson parish to Oak Wood Shopping center and set it on fire! When the fire department came, they started shooting at the firemen who were trying to put the fire out! Jefferson parish Sheriff, Harry Lee, set up a road block on the bridge and gave orders to shoot to kill anyone who had a weapons crossing the bridge. Did you know the National Guard had similar orders? Did you know the police in New Orleans were looting stores and taking Cadallics from the dealers in town? The whole place went absolutely crazy!
