In Dante's Inferno some of the people in hell seem to feel they deserve to be there.

Some do. Some do not.

I do believe people 'reap what they sow'. If a person is evil they will not be truly happy and they will not have peace.

I do not believe in eternal damnation, it is not just punishment. Why should someone suffer eternity (billions upon billions of years) for probably less than 80 years of badness. Like I said that is not justice.

Most people respond well to fair discipline and direction.

I don't want to go to hell but if I were there I would feel I deserve it. I think for the people who do real bad things they don't want to be punished because they are bad in the 1st place. and have no remorse for their actions.

I think people feel like they deserve punishment but most don't like when they get it.

disiplined yes, punished no! Humanness sometimes takes over the spiritual and we do wrong...those wrongs must be learned from as to not repeat it again. As spirtual beings I beleive it would be impossible to want to be punished, but to be loved "unconditionally" as a father or mother loves his child.

I think most of us, unless we have damaged or deficient brains, know when we are doing wrong. But we work hard at inventing rationalizations why this is not wrong, just for us.
