i like firefox and the different skins and extensions. only download the extensions you really need. That's why Firefox is so great, it is less prone to security hacks and it uses less resourcses than IE. Plus the different themes/extensions/skins make it really nice. good luck.

Apparently, Opera claims that they have the fastest browser. I am a Firefox user, so I cannot prove their statement. But if Firefox is pitted against IE Explorer, I would definitely say that firefox is faster than IE.

Opera used to be one of the best browsers I have ever used. Unfortuantely, ever since they came out with version 8, there are a lot of compatibilty issues.
I know use FireFox with a LOAD of extensions that make it better than Opera. It is great.
IE IS GARBAGE!! DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IE

Simple test, clear all your browsers' (Opera or Seamonkey whatever) cache. Pick any netural site, hopefully which is not browser baised eg: http://www.w3.org/ If the World Wide Web Consortium dudes are baised then we have no hope.
Make sure you're not downloading or uploading anything else (p2p etc) during the test. Load that site on every browser, and see the difference...

Firefox. I use the recently updated one you can get from their website. I also use Thunderbird for my POP3 email and it rocks! Firefox's downloads are so much faster and the pages come up faster than the others. Its more user friendly than IE on anyday.

The disparity in speed between the major browsers out there is negligible. You're really talking about a difference of a few seconds at most. Their respective engines process things like CSS and Javascript at different speeds and generally in the end they even out.
In case you're really interested, here's on unofficial test:

They work all the same and have the same speed. But firefox is the safest because it does not support active scripting. Active Scripting is what IE dangerous.

Opera.
I think it comes down to which sites you goto, but overall I find Opera to be much faster.
