Fairly cheap economy cars, but they held up reasonably well, and they built a very interesting limited run of Omnis with the 2.2 Turbo. It's possible to build your own clone if you aren't lucky enough to find an original Omni GLH (which stands for "Goes Like Hell" - no kidding!). There's been one GLH clone that finished second in the Grassroots Motorsports $200X Challenge for five consecutive years. Check out http://www.turbododge.com if you are interested in Omnis for more than basic transportation.

Common problems include the interior coming apart and the automatic transmission isn't the greatest. The engine is pretty tough, though.

The old ones...like an 85 or 87? They had problems with head gaskets. Other than that, they were a 2.2L 4 cyl. Good motor. Keep up the maintenance on the timing belt. It is an interfering engine. Good luck.

Reliable cars . Need timing belts at about 60,000 mile intervals.

They are great and economical, but I doubt there are many left on the road with many miles left in them.
