"That's life" - just like the answer above me. I think you shouldn't always accept what happens; it becomes an excuse for allowing more people to simply say "that's life". Though you have to pick your moments well..

Or how about, "It's not guns that kill people, it's people that kill people". The proper answer: "It's bullets that kill people!!!"
