i think that what is happening to south africa is a response to apartheid; for whereas it was the whites held the majority and were ruling the country, it is now the blacks who are doing that instead. a fellow student who studies journalism alongside me is south african and as of yet i haven't asked his views on this latest problem.
as for tarbo mbeki, he is a ****- i'm sorry but he and his government are doing exactly the same thing as the previous administration by allowing south africa to go the same way as zimbabwe and driving the whites away. and do i blame them for leaving? no- but it'll annoy me more if for example in sport instead of plying their trade for south africa where they were born, they chose their adopted country. england more than anything. like that moron crickteter, kevin pieterson. that guy is a traitor to his own country. he is just an idiot.

its always a hard question to answer because some whites go back generations and South Africa is their home. How can these people just pack up and go. go where? what you have written does make things seem very unsettled and it does seem that white people should leave and don't leave it to late like Rhodesians now Zimbabwe but its a dilemma

Why when most of the chairty, community and recovery work being done is all run by white people. I am far from racist but they way i see it these days if great britain and the U.S.A can be over run by immigrants which do not do their fair share to become part of a nation why kick out a group of people who are finaly trying to give back to the country.
O.k the history is messed up i know but look at whyat is ahppening now!

I am a white South African.
When I leave it will be on the last plane before they switch the lights off. It is a great country. Yes we do have problems, by running away won't solve them. South Africans of all races are great people, we are a nation with great pride. We have achieved a lot in the past 10 years, together.
Please feel free to contact me should you wish to debate this issue further.

I can not speak for other white South Africans and I am not a racist, I also have family there that I miss (one of them is my brother-in-law who is a farmer). I left because my husband, who is a highly trained professional could not find any work under affirmative action, I was held up with a knife in a shop that I worked at and I saw a woman stabbed and robbed in front of my eyes, I was attacked by a drug dealing Nigerian in my workplace, I have been robbed 3 times... We could not survive financially, because prices were going up and salaries stayed the same. That is why my family and I left. I think the nation is suffering, not just the whites, but nothing seems to be changing, in fact it looks even worse from the outside (overseas).

Well I spent 38 years in South Africa, having emigrated there with my parents in the 1960's
I returned to UK two years ago as a matter of necessity. In that period I have seen what should have been a triumphant event - a relatively peaceful transition to majority rule, transform itself in to a disaster.
Make no mistake. South Africa is a more racist society now than it ever was. So called affirmative action and black economic empowerment is translated to mean 'blacks only' when it comes to recruitment. I have seen this policy administered first hand so no denials please.
The level of crime, especially violent crime can only be interpreted as state condoned terror.
Also bearing in mind that a large part of South Africa's GDP is derived from agriculture, and that white farmers are being driven from the land by means of murder, or being forced to sell, you don't need to be a genius to predict which way the economy is heading over the next few years.
Yes, get out if you can. Let Africa go the whole way back to the stone age. It's a lost cause anyway.

No, not unless their under imediate danger of real violenc.
South africans need so much help and we should be their for them. Their our brothers man like all hummans, we will never give up hope for this nation or any other. I hate to admit it but our government and others are driving the economies down in this part of the world and other parts with our trading practices, lets sort it before it becomes another horrendous world disaster.

One of my friends is white from south africa Zimbabwe and her and most of her family were forced out because they don't want whites in there. She tells me stuff that used to happen over there and it sounds pretty bad!
But answering your question, i htink it's up to them wheter they leave or not, they might be forced out soon though, the way things are going.

What's happening in Zimbabwe will not happen in South Africa. With the end of apartheid they had their Truth and Reconciliation Commission and South Africa moved on. They are not ruled by a dictator but by a democratically elected government. They are still a young country grappling with all sorts of social issues, it will take time, but they will get there.

What happened in Zim will not happen in South Africa.Robert Mugabe is a maverick. If white people or any other people for that matter feel they need to leave SA ,by all means,go forth and be merry. But please don't climb up on your soapbox and badmouth the country.I know Aids is a problem ,I know Crime is a problem but what are you doing to help the situation?Instead of complaining get off your **** and do something about it!!!!!!!
