Argus are you an American? just wondering, for the most part people don't want war, but it is big money for the governments though and if you haven't figured it out yet the american government is evil, I can't even begin to imagine how the people who are serving in the military must feel or for that matter the people that live over in that area, it must be so horrible to live in fear like that every day, I really don't think anybody wants war except for the rich and the greedy or those who are desperate and have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain

I doubt religion is even as often a reason as it's suggested to be - it's usually conquest, with religion used as a way of getting populations to back the war, and to participate in it...
But certainly money is... Vietnam was about protecting South-East Asian free markets (this was the prerogative to stopping Communism from spreading South - the Communist countries of Asia countered each other's military threat to America (e.g. Sino-Soviet split), Iraq is about oil, which in turn is about economics, which in turn is about money. Afghanistan was about the gas pipeline for the same reason (hence why so little effort was put into catching Bin Laden upon invading). The British/Dutch/French/other empires weren't about spreading/enhancing civilisation, they were about plundering natural resources and providing cheap labour...

It is man's nature to protect its' interests, be it a bar fight over a girl or a country to country war...
If you remove religion and money...which would never happen, we would go back to a feudal system (as has been demonstrated a thousand times in our history) and we would fight over something else instead....probably land; wars have been fought in ancient times for such simple things as the hand of a princess in marridge or defending the honour of an insulted man....do not underestimate the stupidity of mankind, we will go to war for any reason...it is our nature

Because at the end of the day.. that's all anyone has. They have wealth and they have faith. .. and those are the most important thing to any people.
It's not just about religion.. it's about belief.. and if someone was trying to take away my beliefs.. and trying to force something else on me.. as just one person there would be war.
We want them because when it's all boiled down.. those are the most important things.. and it's all we have.

Sigh. I dunno. Maybe it's because we Westerners haven't had large parts of our beautiful countryside ripped apart by bombs and turned into cemeteries as in Europe. Maybe that's why we have yet to learn that war is not a good thing. Such a simple lesson, and so difficult to learn.
Good question.
