Phrase; verb. Source: "hit" refers to dialing a phone number and "me up" refers to a person who wants to be called. Definition: Hit me up means give me a call. Context: Hit me up is another way of saying I'd like you to call me sometime.

If you say that someone "hit you up", it means that they asked you for something, usually in an abrupt way. It is often something that you're not that happy about being asked to do (such as lending money).

As in -
"My sister hit me up for $200.00 to pay her rent."
"My roommate hit me up for a ride to school."
"My neighbor hit me up to watch her cat while she went on vacation."

By the way - this would be the U.S. definition of the expression "hit me up". I think that some of your other answerers might be British, to whom the expression seems to have an entirely different meaning. ; )

Apparently a lot of things. I would say "ask me for" as in he hit me up for ten bucks, even though he already owes me 20.
