Once Upon a Time all Hurricane Names were Female - - - a carry over from times more nautical when the Four WInds were Viewed as Harpies blowing a Foul WInd from the Four Corners of the Earth. Now the Weather Folks try to balance it out, a mix of male and female names, Katrina just happened to pack enough of a wallop to be memorable while no one remembers Hurricane Karl.
